    Dairy Unit


    The Harper Adams University dairy unit is split into two groups; Main group and Smart group. The dairy unit is comprised of Holstein-Friesian dairy cows, most of the herd is milked in a 40-point GEA internal rotary parlour (Main group) and a small group of cows are milked using a robotic milking system (Smart group)

    Sheep Unit

     

    The Harper Adams sheep unit contains over 600 breeding pedigree Lleyn ewes, rearing around 1,000 lambs annually. It is mainly a grass-based outdoor system with most ewes housed indoors for the lambing season.

    Beef Unit

     

    The Harper Adams University beef unit is comprised of British-Blue cross steers and heifers from an all-year round calving Holstein-Friesian herd. The beef unit finishes these animals within 12 months on a TMR ration.
