Late Gestation building 

In this building on the pig unit:

• Straw pens under the window house gilts (female pigs before their first litter) at all stages.
• All gilts born on this unit are from Grandparent sows.
• Further down the building are sow pens, sows are in groups of up to eight, and have a straw pen and free-access feeders.
•  Sows are fed all at once in the morning, and have a feeder each which can't be opened by another sow, so they all get the correct amount of feed.
• Sows in this building are in the second half of gestation (9-15 weeks), and get extra feed for the last two weeks of gestation to increase piglet birthweight.
